2.4 Past Perfect Continuous (progressive) Tense
Past perfect continuous tense mewakili setiap tindakan atau peristiwa yang dimulai di masa lalu dan terkadang berlanjut hingga tindakan lain atau waktu lain.
Ini sama dengan past perfect tense, serta menyoroti durasi waktu tindakan yang terjadi sebelum sesuatu di masa lalu.
Structural formula:
Subject + had been + Verb (ing) + object (optional) + time of action.
Di sini, verba modal had digunakan dengan been, dan verba V+ing, present participle digunakan untuk menunjukkan kontinu selama durasi waktu hingga tindakan selesai.
